St Mary’s Hospice is hoping to have another barking-mad day out on Sunday 11th March when they host their second sponsored walk for dogs. They hope that a maximum of 50 owners will come forward to put their pooch to the test.
“Paws for Thought”, covers 2 miles and starts at Market Place, Dalton-in-Furness and follows a dedicated route starting at 1.30pm. The course takes the owners and dogs (which must be on a lead) towards Barrow-in-Furness before turning onto the Low Road at the bottom of Mill Brow. It is then back to the start for well-deserved refreshments for all dog participants.
Event organiser, Zoe Guest said: "Our new Paws for Thought walk in Dalton is an ideal opportunity for dog owners to get out with their pets and friends and family to enjoy a scenic walk and raise much needed funds for their local hospice. We'd like as many people to join in as possible.”
All dogs who take part will receive an award for their participation in the event.
Places on the sponsored walk can be booked in advance or will be taken on the day. However, it will be on a first come basis. Registration is £5 per dog. Each participant will be issued with a sponsor form to try and raise as much money as they can for St Mary’s. To book a place call 01229 580305 or email events@stmaryshospice.org.uk
