Andy Smith raises £1,500 with his 67 mile cycle round Loch Ness

Thank you to Andy Smith a police Sergeant from Barrow who raised over £1,500 for two charities, Prevent Breast Cancer and St Mary's.

On Sunday 23rd April, Andy cycled 67 miles around Loch Ness in memory of John Malyj who was cared for by the St Mary's Hospice at Home team. Half of the money also raised has been donated to support Prevent Breast Cancer inspired by his wife's sister and a colleague's wife Adele Dean.

Andy chose the route around Loch Ness as it is a special place for him. He said 'it's the most beautiful place in the world, I proposed to my wife there'. The ride also coincides with his birthday and this year he managed his personal best time of 4hrs 8 minutes.

The money raised was collected through friends, family and justgiving. We'd also like to give special thanks to Gilmour fabrications, Schofield construction Ltd, Slimming world in Barrow, PKA and David Atkinsons.

Andy also cycled this route last year where he raised up to £600 for Macmillan.
