Christmas Tree Recycling 2018 - it's back! 30-Nov-2017
Following the success of the previous years’ involvement in the Just Helping Charity Christmas Tree Collection scheme, St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston are delighted to confirm they will be collecting trees on the 6th and 7th January 2019.
Involving a large number of volunteers and support from local businesses, the scheme encourages people from across the South Lakes and Furness areas to
donate to St Mary’s in return for having their real Christmas tree collected and disposed of.
The collections, following 12th Night, with take place on 6th and 7th January from the following postcodes: LA11, LA12, LA13, La14, LA15 and LA16. Trees
need to be registered by midday 2nd January 2019.
It is up to the individual to decide how much to donate, although it is worth bearing in mind that it costs almost £9,000 each day to run the hospice’s
free services to patients with life limiting conditions and their loved ones. Just £15 is enough to pay for a 30 minute aromatherapy session for a
patient during their stay at St Mary’s. 10% of the money made from this year’s collection will be donated to the Rotary Club of Furness in recognition
of their longstanding support for the hospice, as well as the great work they do for the South Lakes Community.
Area Fundraiser Clare Tonkin remarks “We can’t complete the collection without support from our fantastic volunteers and wonderful corporate partners –
we are so grateful to everyone who gives up their valuable time to make the collection possible. We want to make this year’s collection even bigger
and better – many hands make light work, and it’s a chance to get 2019’s fundraising efforts off to a flying start.”
The 2019 collection team includes support from: Charnley’s, Deltawaite, Steele’s Removals, Atkinsons Memorials, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Direct
Rail Services, Broughton Young Farmers, Continental Landscapes, McDougall’s Catering, BAE, GSK, Barrow Police Cadets and Community Payback.
