Joan Edmonds Generous Gift 26-Feb-2016
The lovely Joan Edmonds has just turned 90! And as part of her open house birthday celebrations, Joan selflessly suggested that guests make a donation
to St Mary's Hospice instead of a present.
Joan was genuinely surprised and overwhelmed when she heard the news that her kind gesture had raised £569.43. We were privileged to meet Joan and her
friends Rita and Sue at the Hospice, where Joan presented us with this huge cheque! Rita said “This shows how popular and well liked Joan is.”
Joan sadly lost her beloved husband William to cancer 49 years ago, when he was just 46. At that time there were no Macmillan nurses available. Joan’s
kind gift means that other people will get help and support when they need it most. To give you an idea Joan’s donation can enable the average petrol cost
for 380 Hospice at Home visits! 70 meals on our Inpatient Unit, 30 hours of patient care or enable 7 people to attend our Day Care sessions. Thank you
Joan for this wonderful cheque and idea!
