Lowick Young Farmers Fundraising Success! 07-Apr-2017
Lowick Young Farmers have successfully completed a variety of fundraising activities to support St Mary’s. Through lots of hard work and community
events Lowick Young Farmers have been able to donate an amazing £3,500!
Alice Longmire, Lowick YFC Secretary said: “We chose St Marys Hospice as it is a local charity which has supported members and their families. To raise
the money we held a Bonfire and Firework Display followed by a Barn Dance in November, we also raised money at our Annual Christmas Whist Drive
in December at Greenodd Village Hall and then the rest of the money was raised at the Charity Stock Judging Evening, which also included a raffle
and charity auction.”
Anne Atkinson, St Mary’s Volunteer & Community Engagement Lead attended the Charity Stock Judging Evening and attended the Lowick Young Farmer’s
weekly meeting to give a talk on St Mary’s and its range of free services available within the community, and how people can access these services.
At this meeting Anne was presented with a fantastic cheque for £3,500.
Anne Atkinson said: “It was lovely to come along to the Charity Stock Judging Evening, and that people were so supportive on the night. I am stunned
at the amount of money raised across all the activities. As a charity St Mary’s relies on fundraising, donations and volunteers. Though all our
services are free within the community, they are not free to provide, so this level of support from Lowick Young Farmers makes a big difference.
Well done and thank you.”
