St Mary’s was delighted this morning to reopen their Millom Hospice shop after its makeover. Millom Mayor Angela Dixon said "It looks twice the size, the way its decorated has really lightened it up. It does a lot for the local community and is definitely an asset to the town."
The shop's interior has been updated with new decor, new fittings and lighting. Staff and volunteers have worked with local suppliers to deliver the refurbished shop on a small budget. St Mary's Head of Retail Caroline Welsh added "I'm absolutely delighted, the shop looks beautiful, super pleased all the volunteers love it. Hopefully the people in Millom will love the shops new look!"
St Mary’s Retail Trustee Richard Bird attended the opening; he added "It's transformed from what it was. It's great for the Hospice and for the people that work and volunteer for St Mary's."
Speaking of the shops personality and focus on excellent customer service shop Manager June Mckeown said "If we don't know them [the customer] when they come in, we'll know them when they leave."
St Mary's has five charity shops, a gift shop and a warehouse across its catchment area from Millom, to Barrow-in-Furness and across to Grange-over-Sands with all money raised going directly to the hospice. The Hospice shops rely on quality donations and donated time from volunteers to raise vital funds.
These funds ensure the charity provides essential free care, comfort and support to patients with life-limiting conditions and support for their families
The Millom shop is located at 12 Wellington Street and is open 9am – 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. 9am – 12.30pm Wednesday & Saturday.
