Press release: St Mary’s looking to boost Lottery support

St Mary’s Hospice is working to raise more money for patient care through promoting the St Mary’s Hospice Lottery - a weekly lottery set up to raise money specifically for hospice care. The St Mary’s Lottery is a fun and simple way to support the hospice. Each Lottery ticket costs just £1 per week to play for the chance to win one of 14 weekly cash prizes.Supporters can win up to £1,000 each week and become one of the amazing people that help St Mary’s to raise funds to provide care for 1 in 5 of their patients and loved ones.
Clare Shields, Lottery Fundraiser says: “Our Lottery members are very important to us. We understand that people don’t always have a lot of money to give, but our weekly Lottery members make a big difference to our work. It’s only £1 per week to join our Lottery – but this £1 goes a very long way … did you know that £1.50 covers the average petrol cost for a Hospice at Home visit? Just imagine the difference your £1 could make each week.”
As part of raising awareness of St Mary’s Hospice Lottery, three canvassers will be working on behalf of St Mary’s in the hospice’s catchment area. Starting in Barrow-in-Furness in postcodes LA13 and LA14.
Clare Shields says: “St Mary’s is now running a door to door campaign to ask you if you would like to sign up to play our Lottery on a regular basis. We've found this is a fun way for us to get out and about in our community and raise awareness of our lottery as a vital part of our funding. We’d like to introduce Dennis, Andrew and John will be out and about promoting this. Our Lottery is a fun and essential part of raising funds for St Mary’s Hospice, and we welcome your support. We are confident that Dennis, Andrew and John will be part of our fundraising integrity. Please be assured that the canvassers are fully trained and will have full photographic ID on them at all times.”
Dennis says: "It's a privilege to fundraise for such a worthwhile local cause."
Andrew: ”We’re looking forward to helping in the local community, getting out and raising awareness and drawing attention to the good work the hospice that they have done over the years.”

St Mary’s Hospice provides free comfort and care for people with life –shortening conditions and support for their families, either at the Hospice or at home.We support people from the moment of diagnosis and their families for longer. Though all our care and services are free of charge to our community, they are not free to provide and that’s where we rely on your help.
