St Mary's Hospice @stmaryshospice
At St Mary’s Hospice are proud to be helping and supporting people in Millom and the surrounding areas with our services. We receive a great deal of support through a strong team of fundraising volunteers who help in our shop and with the Duddon Support Group. We also have people from the Millom area who donate their time to volunteer to help in other services. All this contributes to us being able to provide a range of services, some of which are quite new, to your community.
We deliver a variety of services to the community which are supported by a team of volunteers and staff.
Our staff have delivered two Positive Living Groups in Millom recently. This is a six week programme to give patients the tools to manage difficult symptoms like pain, anxiety or breathlessness.Volunteers were there to help and be a friendly support.
People from Millom and surrounding areas have also attend Health and Wellbeing Services at the hospice in Ulverston including Day Services (an afternoon session where people join in different activities in a friendly, understanding group) and Tai Chi.
Our Family Support Services team has volunteers in your area who provide support within the person’s home or at the hospice. This aims to offer a caring and compassionate service to assist patients, families, friends and carers in the alleviation of their individual emotional social and spiritual needs, at any point from referral, through illness and treatment, to bereavement and beyond.
We also run a service called Community Neighbours where volunteers visit people in their own homes providing companionship and practical support; some of our Neighbours have also been helping bring people to Tai Chi and calling for lunch on the way home.
If you want to find out more about any of our services or want to volunteer to help please contact our Volunteering and Community Engagement Team on -01229 580305 email firstname.lastname@example.org or better yet, come along and see us at our stall on 9th July at Millom Carnival!
