Ulverston Hospice Carnival Press Release 04-Mar-2016
St Mary’s Hospice is glad to announce that the Ulverston Hospice Carnival, with proceeds being donated to the Hospice, has been launched. This year’s theme
will be Brazil Carnival and/or the Olympics and everyone is encouraged to take part in the parade, by dressing up or helping decorate a float on that
The Carnival will take place on Saturday 2nd July 2016, through the streets of Ulverston and on Ford Park, which the Hospice overlooks’ and will precede
and follow the traditional street parade.
Last year’s carnival was a huge success with over 10,000 people lining the streets of Ulverston and over 100 entries taking part. We want to make sure
that year’s carnival is a fun day out for all the family, and get as many of the community involved as possible to help support the Hospice and make
the day one to remember.
Bob Qazi, Corporate Fundraiser for St Mary’s Hospice, and chairman of the Carnival Committee, says: “Last year’s parade and carnival was a massive
success and we want to ensure this year’s is even bigger and better! We want as many people as possible to come and watch the events and also take
part, through having a float or marching in the parade, wearing outfits with a Brazilian Carnival or Olympian theme, and then joining us on Ford Park
Field for a concert arranged by the Bay Radio. There will be the traditional dancing competitions before and after the parade and this will be followed
by the concert. We would like to thank the Bay Radio and all the local businesses and people of Ulverston and Furness for their support.”
We encourage as many people as possible to help volunteer on the day, as the carnival gives a huge boost to the local economy and its shops and services,
plus at the same time helping to raise vital funds for St Mary’s Hospice.
