Winner collects Steve Wozniak signed iPad Mini donated by Suzanne Edgley at St Mary's Hospice

20-Jun-2016

When Suzanne Edgley from thebestof Barrow and Furness attended a Conference at the ICC in Birmingham, she heard Steve Wozniak, the Apple cofounder, speak. Following his presentation, Wozniak signed several Apple products, one of which was an iPad Mini which Suzanne won! Frightened to even take it out of its box, yet alone switch it on, this fabulous prize has been kept safe and under wraps – until now…

As part of her commitment to St. Mary’s Hospice Challenge 500 Appeal Suzanne decided to raffle this unique prize in aid of the Hospice to help raise much needed funds. And it did! The raffle raised a fantastic £336!

The draw for this fabulous signed iPad mini took place as part of St Mary’s Hospice’s special tenth ‘Walk to Remember’ event on June 10th 2016. Val Stangoe CEO for St Mary’s Hospice drew out Sue Park as winner.

Sue Park came up to St Mary’s Hospice on Monday 20th June to be presented with the prize by Suzanne Edgley, and seen here with Bob Qazi, Corporate & Partnership Development Fundraising.

Sue Park said: “I was over the moon! I didn’t expect to win. I’m obviously close to St Mary’s and so happy to support this.”

Suzanne Edgley added: “We were thrilled that Sue was here when the raffle was drawn at the Walk to Remember. It just added to the brilliant atmosphere!”

Sarah Simpson Marketing Coordinator: “Suzanne’s generous raffle prize has generated a lot of interest and a lot of funds for the Hospice. This will make such a difference here and contributes vital funds for St Mary’s to reach patients, their carers and families with the support they need and when they need it most. To give you an idea, £336 can provide care by covering the petrol cost for 224 Hospice at Home visits based on £1.50 petrol cost per visit or cover 40 meals on our Inpatient Unit, or provide 18 hours patient care.

In addition, as part of Challenge 500 Suzanne’s donation of her skills and expertise has been such a boost for us and improved our social media activity. This is helping us to build on sharing key messages with our wonderful community. We’re delighted with Suzanne’s support. Thank you to Suzanne.”
