About Kim Wilson
Kim trained as a registered nurse in a large teaching hospital in Birmingham in the 1980’s. Following a spell working in Cornwall, she travelled the world
before taking a job at Westmorland General Hospital. She thought this might be for six months, but twenty one years later, she’s still here and loving
life in Arnside with her husband.
Kim has worked in healthcare in Cumbria since 1995 in a number of clinical and managerial nursing roles including General Medicine and Infection Prevention. She became an Assistant Chief Nurse in 2012; a role with accountability across the whole of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust providing leadership to Medicine. She is currently setting up the new Patient Safety Unit at the Trust.
Kim takes compliance with standards seriously and has created and implemented new processes and systems throughout her career to provide assurance of quality
and safety. Kim says, “Patients should receive the best possible evidence based care and should have a positive experience. To achieve this the workforce
needs to be happy, supported, motivated and well educated”.
