What we do
Day Hospice
Our Day Hospice Service is run by dedicated staff including the Medical Director, a Registered Nurse and a Senior Complementary Therapist.
A pre-admission assessment is carried out before patients are offered a ten week placement.
Day Hospice patients are able to see:
- The Hospice Medical Director for symptom management, whilst still remaining under the care of their GP with whom we liaise closely.
- A Registered Nurse who can advise on care and support and liaise with other nursing professionals and GPs.
- A Senior Complementary Therapist, who can help patients to develop their own coping strategies through group therapies such as relaxation, meditation, tai chi, movement and exercise, breathlessness and fatigue management programmes.
- We have volunteers who help us to provide the social aspects. There are opportunities to get together for a chat and some fun.
- Transport can be provided if needed.
- Carers are welcome to join in or have a few hours to themselves.
We accept referrals from the health and social care community and from patients and families directly.
