What we do

Drop-In Sessions

We support Drop-In Centres in Barrow, Ulverston and Grange-over-Sands and a number of other local groups listed below. The purpose is to provide support to people affected by serious, progressive illness – patients, families, friends, carers, the bereaved and anyone requiring information.

Barrow Drop-In

Meets every Wednesday from 1.30 to 3.30pm at Lesser King’s Hall, Hartington Street, Barrow-in-Furness. Contact Anne Beattie 01229 471650or Elaine Lewis01229 834016.

Ulverston Drop-In

Meets every Monday 10am to 12 noon at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church Centre, Victoria Road, Ulverston. Contact 01229 580305.

Grange-over-Sands Drop-In

Meets every Friday 2pm to 4pm at St Paul’s parish Hall, Kents Bank Road, Grange-over-Sands. Contact Marie on 015395 33279.

Furness Breast Cancer Support Group

Meets the first Monday of the month from 2pm to 4pm at Lesser Kings Hall, Hartington Street, Barrow-in-Furness. Contact Dorothy Dawes on 01229 822306 or Margaret Watkins 01229 822470.

Furness Prostate Cancer Support Group

Meets the second Monday of the month from 7pm at Lesser King’s Hall, Hartington Street, Barrow-in-Furness. Contact Anne Beattie 01229 471650, Paul Booth 01229 889768 or John Nelson 01229 470856.

Furness Respiratory Cancer Support Group

A partnership between St Mary’s Hospice and the Lung Clinical Nurse Specialist at Furness General Hospital. The group meets on the third Wednesday of every month 2pm to 4pm at The Royal British Legion, Barrow-in-Furness. Contact 01229 580305.
