Record breaking fundraisers!

Tom and Sam Stephenson set themselves quite a challenge in memory of their grandad Sam McKittrick, who was a keen hiker, biker, climber and lover of the Lakes. On Sunday 14th June, in sweltering heat, they rode the height of Everest (29029ft) by biking up Kirkstone Pass 38 times in one day – AMAZING! Sam actually did 40 climbs – how extraordinary?!

As if that wasn’t enough, Tom broke a record too! The UK 🇬🇧 has a new record holder for completing an Everesting (riding the same hill continuously until you ascend the height of Mt. Everest 29029ft). He beat the previous record by 6 minutes, finishing in 9 hours and 2 minutes.

From all of us at St Mary’s – congratulations to you both on completing this super-human feat and for doing it to raise funds for our patients and their families. The lads’ dad Mike says “The memory of their Grandad Sam and the abilities to help others definitely spurred them on to finish and in such a great time”.

Tom and Sam’s Just Giving page is here if you’d like to show your appreciation for their efforts!
