St Mary’s Working to Support Community

For over 30 years, St Mary’s has been proud to be at the heart of community care, providing care, comfort and support to patients and their families and carers, when they need it most. Never has this been needed more than today, as our staff and volunteers work alongside partner organisations to respond to local need during the COVID-19 situation.

We are working closely with the NHS and local third sector organisations under the same national guidance. Due to rapid changes at present we continue to reassess everything we do on a daily basis. The priority of the Hub is to support both Hospice patients and other people who are self-isolating locally.

Val Stangoe said: “In light of the further restrictions announced late yesterday afternoon from tomorrow our team will be organising a Support Hub at our Living Well Centre in Barrow offering advice and support to those who are self-isolating within our community.
Our Support Hub telephone line will be manned 9am-5pm Monday-Friday by a member of the Hospice team and will be offering telephone support as well as working with partners to organise practical tasks such as food delivery and collecting prescriptions.
If you are self-isolating and struggling with shopping, meals, prescription collection please don’t hesitate to contact the team on 01229 444407.

We will also be opening a drop off point from tomorrow at our Living Well Centre, Duke Street in Barrow if anyone would like to donate food/ essential items which we can make up hampers for the most vulnerable.”

We understand staying safe and having the right advice is important to you so we will be updating our website and social media over the coming weeks, so please do check back. Thank you for your support.
