Admiral Nurse Service
St Mary’s in collaboration with Dementia UK are pleased to introduce the Admiral Nurse dementia service to the Furness and South Lakes area.
Dementia is a life-limiting, progressive, neurodegenerative illness which there is currently no cure for. 1 in 14 people over the age of 65 in the UK have dementia which equates to 525,315 people with a dementia diagnosis. This number is predicted to rise to over 1 million people diagnosed by 2030.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses. Continually supported and developed by Dementia UK, they provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia.
As dementia specialists, Admiral Nurses help families manage complex needs, considering the person living with dementia and the people around them, and can advise other healthcare professionals.
Admiral nurses help people living with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so that they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days.
Please note, our Admiral Nurse Service at St Mary’s hospice is due to be launched Spring 2023 when referrals will be able to be made by health care professionals.
The Admiral Nurse helpline can be contacted by anyone looking for advice on 0800 888 6678
Open Monday – Friday 09:00 – 21:00 and Saturday – Sunday 09:00 – 17:00.
