Monica’s Story

“I have volunteered here for around 3 years. I knew about the hospice from word of mouth and my previous job links.”

“My role here is a reception volunteer and I do Friday mornings. The reason why I enjoy this the most is because when you’ve retired I feel like you need structure in your life and that’s what volunteering does to my week. I also like meeting people.”

“St Marys is personally special to me as I think end of life care is equally as important as any other care. It’s the best end of life care.”

“I would definitely encourage people to volunteer. It helps so much with the running of the hospice and everything alongside that. It van virtually differ to what you would like to do, from maintenance to gardening or to be giving a hand in the orangery café.”
