Esther Kirby

Esther trained as a Registered Nurse in the 1980s in Liverpool and has held a variety of roles throughout her NHS career of over 30 years. Post-qualification she worked as a District Nurse, later moving into Specialist Palliative Care as a specialist nurse and then into senior nurse leadership roles. She spent the latter part of her career as a Chief Nurse before retiring from the NHS in 2018.

Esther is a Trustee of Every Life Matters in Cumbria and also hopes to bring her significant experience of clinical governance and clinical quality to St Marys Hospice, where she is looking forward to meeting her new colleagues in the (hopefully) not too distant future!
