Hospice Care Week: The Big Brew & Boogie awaits!

St Mary’s Hospice is inviting local people to put on their dancing shoes and come together for an afternoon of music, entertainment and connection as part of Hospice Care Week.

Our team will host The Big Brew & Boogie at the Royalty Cinema, Bowness-on-Windermere, on Wednesday 7th October, from 1pm to 4pm.

The uplifting community celebration will bring people together for an afternoon of live music, entertainment, tea, cake and conversation in a warm and welcoming setting.

The event will feature live music from local singer Dennis Horan, an organ player and plenty of opportunities to dance, socialise and meet new people.

The Big Brew & Boogie is particularly aimed at local people who may be looking for opportunities to socialise and connect, including older adults, people experiencing loneliness or social isolation, as well as families, carers, volunteers, hospice supporters and community groups.

Lynsey Lawson, our Head of Community Services said: “Hospice care is about people, relationships and quality of life. While our clinical services are a vital part of what we provide, our work within the community goes far beyond clinical care. We know how important connection, companionship and a sense of belonging are to people’s wellbeing.

“The Big Brew & Boogie is a really joyful way of bringing people together and celebrating those things. We want to create a relaxed space where people can enjoy music, have a dance, share a cup of tea and cake, and perhaps make a new connection or catch up with someone they haven’t seen for a while.

“Hospice Care Week gives us an opportunity to shine a light on what hospice care really means and the difference it can make to people, families and communities. We hope this event will not only give people a wonderful afternoon to remember, but also help them understand more about St Mary’s Hospice and the support available within their local community.”

As well as providing an enjoyable afternoon for local people, The Big Brew & Boogie will help raise awareness of St Mary’s Hospice, our role within the community, highlighting our commitment to supporting wellbeing and bringing people together alongside our specialist clinical services.

The event is free to attend, but places must be booked in advance. Please visit the link below to book.

For anyone who may experience difficulty getting to the event due to transport, we encourage you to get in touch. The team will be happy to discuss how they may be able to help with transport to and from the event.
