Alyson Dickson

Trustee

Alyson brings over 25 years of experience as both a nurse and academic. Born and raised in Ulverston, she began her nursing career at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, before completing specialist training in intensive care nursing. She returned to Ulverston to work in the Intensive Care Unit at Furness General Hospital.

Alyson later earned a degree in Nursing with Education from the University of Huddersfield and went on to become a nurse academic at the University of Cumbria. With a strong focus on professional and academic standards, she chaired the University’s Academic Quality and Standards Committee.

After retiring from her role as Associate Dean at the University of Cumbria in 2017, Alyson has dedicated her time to volunteering with the Family Support Service at St Mary’s Hospice. She also serves as a Trustee/Deputy Chair for Printfest Ulverston.

In her spare time, Alyson enjoys walking the family dogs and creating pottery. She is a member and treasurer of the Ulverston Potters Collective.
