This week marked an important moment for us as we delivered our final Bereavement Champion training session of 2025. When we launched these workshops in January, we set out with a clear goal: to train 100 people within the first year. Thanks to the incredible engagement and commitment from our community, we exceeded that ambition by a wide margin, training 188 people in less than twelve months.
This overwhelming response reflects how deeply our community values compassionate, informed support for those who are bereaved. Together, we’ve begun building a strong network of people equipped to offer understanding, empathy, and guidance to those experiencing loss.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to bring everyone together for Grief Fest at Barrow Town Hall on Thursday 4th December. The event will give us the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our Bereavement Champions and to introduce our Train the Trainer programme for 2026. We’ll also be joined by guest speakers from The New Normal, Andy’s Man Club Barrow-in-Furness, Every Life Matters, and the Bereavement Team at Furness General Hospital, who will share their insights and experiences.
Grief Fest will be a chance for our community to connect, learn, and continue strengthening the support available to those navigating grief. We’re looking forward to marking this milestone together and building on the important work still ahead.
