Lake District estate opens their gates in support of St Mary’s

Matson Ground in Windermere hosted their open garden event to raise funds and awareness for St Mary’s. In total, over £1,880 was raised!

Matson Ground Estate owners, Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria Alex Scott and his wife Sam, opened their grounds to hundreds of visitors, with a range of local vendors and crafters contributing to a vibrant, community-focused atmosphere.

The event was supported in the lead-up by the Duddon Valley Support Group and their network, while Charnleys Home & Garden and Storrs Hall generously donated raffle prizes.

Alison Alger, Philanthropic Giving Manager at St Mary’s Hospice, said: “Special thanks to Sam and Alex Scott for opening Matson Ground and creating such a welcoming event.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the Duddon Valley Support Group, their families and friends. Their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication both before and during the event were outstanding.

“Thank you also to our talented local crafters – Owen Jones, Francis Irving, Katie Plumb Ceramics, Jo Clayton (Designs from the Woods), and Caths Garden Plants – whose contributions helped make the day so special.

“We also extend our thanks to Charnleys Home & Garden and Storrs Hall for donating fantastic raffle prizes.

“Finally, thank you to everyone who attended. Visitors travelled from across the North West, and it was wonderful to connect with so many supporters. The event provided a valuable opportunity to highlight the services St Mary’s Hospice offers, including newer support groups based at the Windermere Community Hub.

“The day was filled with community spirit, generosity and meaningful conversations, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who played a part.”
