St Mary’s Hospice is delighted to announce the launch of the Millom Dementia Café, a warm and welcoming space for people living with dementia and their carers to come together, share experiences, and take part in engaging, therapeutic activities.
Held every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Millom Cricket Club, the Dementia Café offers a variety of dementia-friendly sessions designed to promote social connection, confidence, and well-being. Activities include music and singing, gentle exercise, reminiscence sessions, and cognitive stimulation exercises—all delivered in a relaxed and supportive environment.
The group aims to foster meaningful friendships, alleviate some of the symptoms associated with dementia, and help both individuals and their carers feel understood and connected within their community.
“This is about bringing people together,” said Leigh Littlechild, from St Mary’s Hospice. “We want everyone who comes along to feel welcome, supported, and part of a caring community. Whether it’s through a song, a shared memory, or just a cup of tea and a chat, these sessions can make a real difference.”
The sessions are free to attend, but booking is essential.
