Our In-Patient Unit at St Mary’s Hospice

Our 8-bed In-Patient Unit is located at our hospice in Ulverston and offers a calm, home-like environment surrounded by beautiful gardens and the open countryside.

We have a team of nurses, doctors and health and social care professionals who specialise in managing symptoms, relieving pain and providing emotional support.

Our team works around the clock to provide the highest quality of care for all our patients.
All our services in the In-Patient Unit are free of charge.

We have 8 private rooms on the unit that have a washbasin. Four of the rooms at the hospice also come with en-suite facilities.

Every room has access to outdoor space including a central courtyard garden.

We encourage patients and families to bring personal items with them like photos and decorations. We also welcome fresh flowers and plants and there is a TV in every room.

Our chefs take it upon themselves to visit each patient daily to chat about meal preferences and go above and beyond to accommodate dietary needs. Snacks are also available throughout the day if you want them.
