Our Compassionate Companies Network

Dear Compassionate Company,

St Mary’s Hospice provides free end-of-life care, comfort and emotional support for those living with life-shortening illnesses and their loved ones, across the Furness and South Lakes area. We are here for our patients and those closest to them from the moment of diagnosis and for as long as they need us. Our care is provided at the hospice in Ulverston, at our Compassionate Communities Hub in Barrow, out in the community and in people’s homes, across our whole footprint, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We would like to invite your business to join a very exciting opportunity. An opportunity that will help increase your brand visibility, provide networking opportunities with like-minded businesses and align your business with a much-loved local charity.

In 2024 St Mary’s Hospice turned 35 years old. To celebrate 35 years of our care and to help ensure we are still here for another 35 years and longer, we are looking for local ‘Compassionate Companies’ to commit to donating £35 for 35 months. Our services are free to all but they are not free to run. We only receive around one-fifth of our funding from the NHS, which means that 8 out of every 10 of our patients have their care funded by donations, including from businesses such as yours.

By signing up as a St Mary’s Hospice ‘Compassionate Company’, you will pledge to donate £35 every month for 35 months, and in return, you will receive the following:

• An invitation to quarterly networking meetings with fellow ‘Compassionate Companies’ (Please see front and back page for examples of some of the companies already involved).

• A unique and dated ‘Compassionate Company’ logo to display on your company’s website, social media or any marketing material.

• Your company’s logo on the St Mary’s Hospice website.

• An official ‘Compassionate Companies’ Certificate to display.

• Social media and press coverage throughout the 35 months – we currently have over 10,000 followers on Facebook and receive regular coverage in The Mail and The Westmorland Gazette.

Book your place now to give back to your community. Simply complete the forms on the following pages and return to the fundraising department. For more information, you can contact fundraisng@stmaryshospice.org.uk or call 01229 580305 and select option 5.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
