National Wellness Month: Five wellbeing groups at St Mary’s

August marks National Wellness Month – a reminder that looking after our wellbeing is important for everyone. For people living with a life-limiting illness, those caring for a loved one, or anyone navigating grief, taking time to connect, move create and simply pause can make a real difference.

At St Mary’s Hospice, wellbeing is about far more than physical health. It’s about supporting the whole person – mind, body and spirit – while creating opportunities to build confidence, reduce isolation and meet others who understand.

Our free wellbeing groups offer welcoming, supportive spaces where friendships can grow, experiences can be shared and people can take positive steps towards feeling stronger, calmer and more connected.

Why do local wellbeing groups matter?

When life changes because of illness, caring responsibilities or bereavement, it’s easy to feel isolated. Joining a group can help you:

  • Feel less alone by connecting with others who share similar experiences.
  • Improve physical and emotional wellbeing in a safe, supportive environment.
  • Learn new skills and coping strategies.
  • Build confidence and rediscover hobbies or interests.
  • Take valuable time for themselves, helping to reduce stress and improve overall quality of life.

Every session is open to people living with a life-limiting condition, carers and those experiencing grief, with friendly staff on hand to offer support throughout.
