Walk to Remember 2026 raises over £134,000 for St Mary’s

Over 1,200 walkers came together to remember lost loved ones and raise an incredible £134,183.21 for St Mary’s Hospice at this year’s Walk to Remember.

The final fundraising total has now been revealed following the much-loved annual event held on Friday 4th September. People from across the local community braved the September winds to walk through the night in memory of loved ones and support the vital work of St Mary’s Hospice.

Walkers took on either the 10-mile route from Ulverston to Barrow or the shorter five-mile route from Ulverston to Dalton, coming together to celebrate and remember loved ones while raising vital funds for St Mary’s.

Mel Dixon, Events and Challenges Manager at St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We are absolutely blown away by the incredible £134,183.21 raised through Walk to Remember. Seeing so many people put so much effort into raising vital funds has been incredibly heartwarming and inspiring. We hold this event each year, but the support we receive continues to blow us all away.

“Every person who walked was there for their own reason, whether remembering someone they love, supporting a friend or family member, or showing their support for St Mary’s Hospice.

“We are so grateful to everyone who took part, donated, volunteered or helped make the event possible. The £134,183.21 raised will help St Mary’s Hospice continue providing specialist care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, loved ones and carers across the local community.”

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to event sponsor Ørsted, alongside every walker, volunteer, supporter and donor whose generosity and commitment contributed to this year’s outstanding achievement.
