About St Mary’s Hospice

At St Mary’s Hospice, we provide specialised care and support for individuals and families with life-limiting illnesses in the Furness and South Lakes areas.

Our services include the eight-bed in-patient unit, Hospice at Home, bereavement service, dementia service and living well services. All of these are provided by a skilled team of doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers.

As a charity, we are supported by our community and rely on generous donations to continue delivering the highest level of care.

Our Story

St Mary’s continues to look forward, delivering our vision of compassionate care to patients and families across South Cumbria. But it’s important never to lose sight of our past.

Here we remember the hard work, generosity and dedication of those who came before, generations handing on the Hospice stronger than they found it. This is Our Story…

Here at St Mary’s Hospice, we want to make a community where everyone living with a life-shortening illness can access compassionate specialist care.

All members of the St Mary’s Hospice team are committed to making sure that no one has to go through life-changing circumstances alone.

Our senior management team and trustees work together to guide St Mary’s Hospice, ensuring we deliver compassionate care and support to everyone who needs us.

St Mary’s Hospice is a wonderful place to work.

We have a dedicated team of over 120 staff, supported by over 200 volunteers. Every role plays a part in making a difference. Whether you’re providing hands-on care, supporting families, or working behind the scenes, you’ll be joining a dedicated team committed to delivering compassionate, life-enhancing support to those who need it most.
