Great North Swim

Are you ready to plunge into the stunning waters of the Lake District — and help support a great cause while you do it? We’re offering limited charity places for Great North Swim, and would love to have you on our team!

  • By taking on Great North Swim for our charity, every distance you conquer and every pound you raise helps fund St Mary’s Hospice.
  • Charity places give you a secure entry to this popular open-water event, without needing to rely on a ballot.
  • You’ll receive a fundraising pack, guidance on how to reach your target, and our team’s support from registration through to post-swim celebrations. Many charities also provide branded swim caps, event info and community support.

  • Great North Swim takes place at Lake Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District — a spectacular setting of lakes, hills and natural beauty.
  • The event is a three-day open-water swimming celebration, combining challenge, community and fun. There’s a real festival atmosphere, with opportunities for spectators, friends and family to join in with food, local culture and weekend festivities.
  • Distances for everyone: Whether you’re new to open-water swims or an experienced swimmer, there’s an option for you — from a short 250 metre “dip in” to a full 10 km challenge. Other available swims include ½-mile, 1 mile, 2 miles and 5 km.

Charity places are open to swimmers of all abilities. Whether you’re a complete beginner wanting to try open-water swimming, or an experienced swimmer looking for a challenge — there’s a distance to suit you. And the vibe is inclusive, friendly, and community-driven.

If you’d like to swim the Great North Swim with us — and support St Mary’s Hospice while doing it — claim your charity place today. Places are limited and often fill quickly.

Sign up below or get in touch for more info on entry, fundraising support and how we’ll cheer you on all the way to the finish.
