Gerry Murray
Gerry Murray has been a GP in Ulverston since 1985 and has dedicated much of his life to supporting people within his local community. His connection to St Mary’s Hospice is also deeply personal. Gerry’s late first wife was cared for by the hospice before her death in 1996, and the care and compassion she and their family received is something that has stayed with him ever since.
A keen cyclist and lover of the outdoors, Gerry has completed the Fred Whitton Challenge an incredible 16 times, raising money along the way. In 2025, his contribution to the local community was recognised when he received the Heart of Ulverston Lifetime Achievement Award.
Gerry is incredibly proud to now serve as a Trustee, giving something back to a hospice that has meant so much to him and his family and helping ensure that other local families can continue to receive the same care and support when they need it most.
