Thank you to Furness Building Society and Affinity Account Holders

Customers of Furness Building Society have helped raise almost £90k for St Mary’s Hospice — just by keeping money in a special savings account.

Furness Building Society makes a cash donation each year to the Hospice equal to 0.50% of the average balance held in all St Mary’s Hospice Affinity Accounts. This year that totalled a whopping £87,133.

These vital funds are enough to keep the Hospice running for a full week. Area Fundraiser Heidi Bowron said; “We need to raise millions of pound each year so that we can treat patients right across Furness and South Lakes — with eight out of every 10 patients’ care being funded by voluntary donations.

“Every single pound that is donated is so important, and we are so thankful to the team at Furness Building Society, and their wonderful customers, for supporting us.”

Helen Mason, Furness Building Society Branch Manager for Dalton and Ulverston branches, said: “We are so proud to support St Mary’s Hospice here at Furness Building Society. It is an amazing feeling when we see what we have raised and just knowing how much this helps our local community.”
