First-ever Community Hub held in Bowness-on-Windermere

We recently celebrated the successful launch of our first-ever Community Connections Hub – Together at the Movies – in Bowness-on-Windermere.

Together at the Movies has been created to bring people together, reduce social isolation and connect local residents with support, friendship, services and activities available within their community.

The launch event, held at the Royalty Cinema in Bowness-on-Windermere, welcomed a fantastic turnout of local organisations, charities, community partners and residents. Attendees had the opportunity to meet representatives from a wide range of services, enjoy refreshments, meet new people and discover the support available within their local area.

The event marked the beginning of a new monthly hub, which will continue to take place on the first Tuesday of every month at the Royalty Cinema.

Lynsey Lawson, Head of Community Services at St Mary’s Hospice, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who came along to either provide or access support.

“Together at the Movies provides an inclusive space where people can make new connections, access information and enjoy social activities, helping to strengthen community networks and improve wellbeing.

“The hub has been developed as part of St Mary’s commitment to supporting people earlier and closer to home, making it easier for individuals, carers and families to access practical, emotional and wellbeing support within their own communities.

“We look forward to welcoming even more local residents and organisations to future sessions as Together at the Movies continues to grow into a valued community space where people feel informed, connected and supported.

“We also continue to welcome interest from community groups, charities, voluntary organisations and local services that would like to become involved in future events. It is free to attend and everyone is welcome.”
