The annual Keswick to Barrow Walk once again proved to be one of Cumbria’s most inspiring community events, as thousands of walkers took to the roads and fells at the weekend in support of charities close to their hearts.
Bathed in warm sunshine and clear skies for much of the day, participants of all ages completed sections of the famous route from Keswick to Barrow, creating a fantastic atmosphere from the early morning start through to the finish line celebrations.
Families, friends, work colleagues and community groups all came together for the much-loved event, with walkers raising money for a wide range of local and national causes. Among the charities benefiting from the incredible support was St Mary’s Hospice, with many participants proudly wearing hospice colours and fundraising shirts as they made their way across the county.
Supporters lined parts of the route to cheer walkers on, while volunteers provided refreshments, encouragement and essential support throughout the day. The sense of community spirit was evident everywhere, with participants helping one another through the tougher miles and celebrating together at the finish.
Above all, the weekend’s walk was a celebration of community, generosity and determination — a reminder of how people across Cumbria come together to support important causes and make a real difference to charities such as St Mary’s Hospice.
