St Mary’s Hospice Community Hub

The St Mary’s Hospice Community Hub in Barrow is a welcoming space designed to support individuals living with long-term and life-limiting conditions, as well as their families, carers, and those who are bereaved. The hub provides a supportive environment where people can focus on maintaining their independence, enhancing their well-being, and accessing the assistance they need.

Visiting a new place for the first time can sometimes feel daunting. To help visitors feel more comfortable, St Mary’s Hospice has created a short video tour of the Community Hub. This provides an opportunity to explore the space, gain a sense of what to expect, and learn more about the support available.

Discover how our new Compassionate Communities Team is working across Furness and South Lakes to build a more connected, caring community for those facing death, dying, and bereavement.

From awareness-raising events and educational workshops to practical support and local partnerships, find out how we’re helping people feel better supported—every step of the way.

Third-sector organisations supporting individuals with long-term conditions are welcome to use the St Mary’s Hospice Community Hub. The Hindpool Room is available for rent at the following rates:

  • 1-hour rental: £20
  • Half-day (up to 4 hours): £75
  • Full-day: £130

For small, voluntary-run groups with no income, there is no room hire charge. However, a fee of £1.50 per attendee applies to cover tea, coffee, and biscuits during the session.
