Hospice skydivers soar to success!

A huge congratulations and thank you to all our fantastic skydivers – a team of 20 including supporters and staff – who took on a tandem skydive for St Mary’s Hospice on Saturday 9th July 2022 at Flookburgh Airfield. Together they have raised over £12k – a fantastic figure which looks set to soar! To support local people with hospice care.

Mel Dixon, Events and Challenges Manager, St Mary’s Hospice: “What a day! Lots of memories made, personal and fundraising goals smashed! We are absolutely overwhelmed at what our sky divers have achieved. Our collective current total stands at an amazing £12,168.41!!! This figure is simply phenomenal and way exceeds our expectations. You have all really gone above and beyond with your fundraising, so a huge thank you from everyone at St Mary’s.”

Helen Carlson, Head of Fundraising who took part in the event added it was: “Breathtaking, exhilarating, AMAZING! It was an absolute pleasure to meet you all today. You guys were all wonderful!”

Stuart Smith said that the experience was: “Better than Wimbledon! It was seriously brilliant, everyone on here was fantastic as well as all the staff/instructors/cameramen from the centre. I was ready to go again! Thank you for the opportunity and hopefully we’ve raised plenty of cash for such a worthwhile charity in the area.”

The hospice provides end of life care in our eight bedded in patient unit, but our care extends beyond our building; most of St Mary’s patients are supported in the pace where they want to be – with increasing numbers of people choosing to stay in their own homes each year, enabled through St Mary’s Hospice at Home service. We also provide a free range of therapies and activities to support those living with advancing illness. Our future is built on your support.
