Lights will shine brightly for loved ones no longer with us at a special ceremony hosted by St Mary’s Hospice in venues across our community, every December. Light Up A Life is one of the most well-loved, meaningful and poignant events in the St Mary’s Hospice calendar and is a chance for supporters to remember a loved one at a traditionally reflective time of the year.
St Mary’s is delighted to host its Light Up A Life events in Cartmel, Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness and this unique celebration is a special time for family and friends to come together and remember those we love, who sadly are no longer with us.
The event will feature thoughtful readings, beautiful music and create a quiet time for reflection. With a specially lit tree, filled with messages for and inspired by loved ones. Light Up A Life is a special service that is open to everyone, not just those who have lost someone they love in the hospice.
In return for a donation we will…
- Dedicate a light on our beautiful tree at the Hospice.
- Record the name of your loved one in our Book of Dedication, along with your short message. This will be available to view at each of our services, or in reception alongside the dedication tree in the Hospice.
- We will provide you with a star to personalise a Christmas message to your loved one. These can be hung on our beautiful tree within the Hospice, or your own tree at home (Available from any of the services, or reception at St Mary’s Hospice)
A message from us all at St Mary’s Hospice…
“St Mary’s is more than just a building, it’s a belief. A belief in treating everyone with dignity, with respect and the understanding that behind every individual is a story. A story that matters. To work alongside our families is both a privilege and an honour” – Lauren McKenny Junior Sister.
These donations will allow us to continue to light up the lives of our patients and their families at what can be one of the most difficult times of the year. Thank you for your support.
