Family Support & Bereavement

What will I be doing?

  • Providing a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment to enable bereaved clients to share their thoughts and feelings either in a 1-1 setting or within a group setting
  • Assisting with the provision of bereavement support groups e.g. Make, Do and Mend workshop, online bereavement group
  • Attending regular monthly supervision sessions (approximately 10 per year) and accessing individual supervision as and when appropriate

What skills & Qualities will I need?

Volunteers should have warmth and empathy, excellent listening skills and an appreciation of importance of confidentiality. An eclectic approach is used rather than following one model of grief theory but it is essential that volunteers are encouraging, non-judgemental and recognise that everyone has a right to their own individual values and beliefs.
