All records broken by this year’s Christmas Tree Collection

We are overwhelmed with the response to the Christmas Tree Collection this year – all records have been broken. Just under 700 trees were registered for collection with over £10.3k given in donations. There has been amazing generosity from all corners of our wonderful community who never cease to amaze us with their kindness and caring.

Of course, none of the collection would be possible without our amazing corporate supporters and volunteers, who have undertaken additional work to make this year’s rounds safe and achievable,” she added. “Wayne at Continental Landscapes and his team have truly gone the extra mile and the support from Marc at Charnley’s is always gladly received. Athena PTS, BAE’s K2B committee, GSK, Orsted, Steeles Removals, Atkinsons Memorials, McDougalls Catering and Keir McKenna – we can’t thank you enough for your time and energy in getting the job done. The collection has certainly started the fundraising year on the best foot despite the continuing challenges of the present times.

A donation will also be made to Barrow Foodbank, the hospice’s chosen additional beneficiary from the annual collection.

Marc Charnley, owner of Charnley’s Homes and Gardens who played a key role over the Friday and Saturday, said: “We have helped out with this from the start and it is just a great thing to be involved with. It is a great days work and sometimes trying to find the trees is an adventure in itself. Some people are very good and others seem to be hiding them away, I think they are probably having a good laugh watching us at times.”

Keep your eyes peeled for next year’s event!
