Vital equipment funded by Roselands Trust for St Mary’s Living Well Centre

A donation of £3,342 has been made to St Mary’s Hospice, thanks to funding from the Roselands Trust.

St Mary’s Hospice has purchased a a Raizer II Emergency Lifting Chair for use at its Living Well Centre in Barrow with the generous donation from the Roselands Trust, following an application by staff from the hospice.

The Roseland Trust is a small independent grant making charity based in South Lakeland which supports organisations throughout Cumbria and North Lancashire by ‘supporting the little things that make a difference.’ For St Mary’s this difference is a specialist piece of equipment enabling staff to help a person who has fallen to get back up into a chair or back on their feet.

Helen Carlson, St Mary’s Hospice Head of Fundraising: “Thanks to the Roselands Trust’s commitment to making a difference we were able to apply for this grant and we are all absolutely delighted that the trust has supported our application for St Mary’s Hospice.”

“It costs over £3.4 million a year to keep our hospice running, with 17% of our funding from the NHS – the rest comes directly from our community. We simply could not exist without the support from our community, and funders including The Roselands Trust. This year the care we provide for 8 out of every 10 patients will be paid for by donations. Every single penny really does make a difference, and being able to purchase a new Lifting Chair, via your funding, is really fantastic. The chairs are truly amazing and part of our services providing care, comfort and dignity.”

St Mary’s Living Well Centre delivers activities to support a wide range of groups. And since reopening following Covid has supported over 800 attendees.

“The trust’s continuing support to the Hospice is very much appreciated: thank you so much, and to all the Trustees at the Roselands Trust.”

Since being established in 2006, the Trust has made many Awards to community projects and charitable groups helping people facing disadvantage, particularly those supporting older adults or people with learning difficulties or disabilities, and recently to help the impact of Covid.
